Is there an age limit for enrollment ?
You must have a high-school diploma or the equivalent diploma for secondary school studies. There is not an age limit, but you must be able to study on the internet and willing to complete the written assignments.
How are students tested ?
Each couse is completed with one written assignment- the final paper. The work is carried out at-home, without any time limits. The final paper is handed in online., in the Domuni LMS. After a while, the corrections are also placed online, in the gradebok of the LMS, and the student is notified via email that their grades are ready to be viewed. After a semester of study, a proctored, in-person test is administered. The date and time of the test are determined and agreed upon by both the student and the testing center. This testing center will be located nearby the student’s place of residence. The test will last 3 hours, and it will be taken as a written test. The student will have the choice of answering one of three questions posed to them. The grade and corrections will be made available to the student within two months of taking the exam.
What is the minimum availability required for study ?
One course represents about 30 hours of work, including the final paper. Since there are between 12 and 15 courses per academic year, you should devote at least one hour per day to study. Becaused Domuni allows for great flexibility in the pace of your studies, the minimum requirement is taking two (calendar) years to complete one year of academic study. To achieve this, one written assignment/final paper must be handed in every two months. It is also possible to progress more quickly, because Domuni is open 24 /7, 365 days a year.
What does ‘Religious Sciences’ mean ? Is it the same as Theology ?
Domuni offers a Bachelors of Theology, on the one hand, a French university degree, in keeping with the norms of the State of France, which requires the study of Greek, Philosophy, Hebrew, interdiscplinary studies, and modern languages. Domuni also offers a Bachelors in Religious Studies, on the other hand, with a degree from the Vatican. This degree was created to offer a Bachelors in 3 years, and not 5 (2 years of Philosophy and 3 of Theology).
In the Religious Sciences, Philosophy courses are woven throughout the curriculum, giving students tools for critical thought necessary to the study of Theology. The Philosophy credts are included in a 180-credit degree program, and the designation ‘Religious Sciences’ signifies that all the credits are not just Theology credits. To have a Bachelors in Theology from the Vatican, titled ‘Canonical Baccaleaureat’, one must then complete additional courses that satisfy the equivalent of 2 years of Philosophy and 3 years of Theology. This can be accomplished in a second step, after you have first finished your Religious Sciences degree.
Are there seminars ?
Domuni offers an education that is provided entirely via the internet. Meetings in-person are also organized, and can be accredited, but they are optional aids for students: study days, summer study programs, colloquia.
Domuni also arranges seminars on the internet, that is to say, an interactive-style class. Masters students have the priority in registering for these seminars. The seminars are regularly advertised on the website, and students who wish to participate must register themselves.
Can I interrupt my studies and resume my degree program later on ?
Yes, it is entirely possible to interrupt and resume a course of studies, to slow down or to speed up your progress. You study at your own pace, and if you take longer than 12 months to complete a year of studies, you do not have to pay your tuition fees anew. If you plan to interrupt your studies for more than a month, you are requested to inform your tutor and the administration, as a courtesy.
Are there any deadlines for handing in course assignments ?
It is best if you hand in one wrtitten assignment per month, but you study at your own pace. There are no deadlines nor time limits.
How do I avoid feeling alone in front of my computer screen ?
You might feel alone but, with Domuni, you can pose questions about a course directly to the professor. You pose these questions via the administration. You can also interact with other students, who are studying with you in one community of study and research. So, you are never truly alone !
I live in Paris, but I leave for Saudi Arabia in 3 months. Can I continue to study there after I move ?
Yes, of course. All you will need is an internet connection.
I understand that the tuition is 1500€ per year, but should I plan on having to pay any other fees ?
No, there are no other supplementary fees. Everything is included !
If I have a problem is there someone who can respond to me right away ?
For any technical or administrative issue, you can seek assistance from your tutor or the Domuni administration : by telephone, email, and even video-conference. For an issue about course content, you can ask your question directly to the professor, via the LMS.
I am taking this opportunity to deepen my faith. Are the courses too abstract and academic for me ?
The courses, no more do than the faith or life, are not too abstract, nor too removed from real life and spirituality. There is an intelligence that is demaned—you have to use your brain, certainly—but the lessons are always concrete and consequential.
I am 18 years old and I would like to become a teacher. Is there a way in which my Domuni studies can help me pass the licensing exams?
Yes. The degree from the State of France will allow you to sit before the testing board. Vatican diplomas are also recognized by the State of France. There is a decree that was issued, and the current government has ratified it.
I have 4 children; I have some limited free time during the week, but not on weekends and never during vacation periods. Can I undertake a course of study?
You must have about 30 hours of availability per course. There are approximately 15
courses per year. If you carry out your studies over a period of 2 years, you can calculate what would work best for you.
I have some very busy weeks during the year, but I do often take vacation weeks in the summer. Can I undertake a course of study ?
You can quite easily choose to study more intensively during the summer, because Domuni is never closed. As with the preceeding response you can calculate your own rate of progress, keeping in mind that it takes approximately 30 hours to complete one course.
I am Italian and my English is not perfect, is it possible for me to pass Domuni’s exams ?
You must write English at a level that is sufficient for another’s reading comprehension, so that the professor can understand what you are trying to communicate in your writing. You will not be graded on the quality of your English, but rather on the pertinance of that which you express in your written assignments.
I am a cloistered nun, and it is not easy for me to move around. Can I take my tests in the monastery ?
The monastery, under certain conditions, can be a registered as a certified testing center.
